January 2023-news and happenings

Welcome to the January 2023 Wattle Grove newsletter and a happy new year to you all.

For those that have joined us over the Christmas period, thank you for signing up. We look forward to providing you information about our program and sales throughout the year.

Thank you also to all the purchasers and participants in our 12 Days of Christmas Sale. It was a fun lead up to Christmas and we hope you are happy with your purchases.

2023 has started with a bang and Christmas already feels like a long time ago. We did have a week or so of lighter duties and some lovely family time enjoying great food, great cricket and good times.

Since new years we have been flat out sorting and moving cattle. Our program relies heavily on lease country and moving everything on farm for weighing, assessment and processing is a big logistical undertaking. The past two weeks have seen over 300 head move through the yards. Sale groups have been selected and our female sale group have been sent to Queensland in preparation for the Fire & Ice Sale in June.

The kids have been breaking in heifers and steers and have been an amazing help.
We are super excited to be able to donate four high quality Speckle Park crossbred steers to Kinross Walaroi School, Orange and St Stanislaus College, Bathurst for showing at Sydney Royal Easter Show in April. We wish both schools the very best of luck and look forward to seeing the results of both hoof and hook.

Our Brazilian program continues to expand with Speckle Park x Nelore calves hitting the ground and growing out beautifully. You can see for yourself what a great cross this is in the photos below.. The first tank of Wattle Grove Speckle Park semen arrived in Brazil in early December. We can't wait to see calves from Smokey, Player, Road Block and Dust n Smoke hitting the ground this year. Thank you to Caitlin and Australian Premier Genetics for their assistance in getting the bulls qualified, collected and sent.
We are very proud of introducing Speckle Park to Brazil and see it as an amazing opportunity that will benefit all breeders in the years to come. Huge thanks to our Brazilian partners for working so hard to make this dream a reality.

This months Subscriber special is the final public release of embryos before our Fire & Ice Sale. The embryos available are from some of our most prolific donors, hence why we have some to share. You can view the embryos here. There is no minimum to purchase and the embryos are stored at Holbrook Breeders. Orders can be made by emailing info@wattlegrovespecklepark.com.au. There are limited numbers so best be quick if you are keen.

Thank you for your wonderful support in 2022 and all the very best for 2023. May it be the year you want it to be. We look forward to seeing you all at a sale, show or field day.

If you have any questions about our cattle and program or have a suggestion for our newsletter please email, call or send a carrier pidgeon :-) We love feedback.
