February 2024 Newsletter
February has been a whirlwind month so far for the Wattle Grove team with a healthy balance of divide and conquer and teamwork makes the dream work.
Another round of embryo implants was completed on Saturday, with bulls now out to tidy up the few who didn't get an embryo. Whilst we are loving the tropical like summer we are having it does create challenges for embryo implant programs. We have been keeping up a steady supply of good quality oaten hay to our recips to ensure they are in the best condition to hold onto the embryos and at this stage it's fingers crossed for a good take rate.
Summer storms have been an almost daily occurrence with last Friday's the heaviest we have had. 55mm in half an hour had the paddocks turn to rivers, dams fill to overflowing and providing Max and Henry an awesome opportunity for some boogie boarding. Videos below.
Congratulations to all the exhibitors at the Clifton Show last weekend where Speckle Park was the Feature Breed. It was an excellent showcase of our breed and we were lucky enough to come away with Grand Champion Bull and Supreme Exhibit. Unfortunately we didn't manage to get any photos of the big boy-Wattle Grove Hall of Fame S723. If anyone that attended happened to grab a shot we'd love to see it :-)
Beef Australia preparations continue with the time now set for our Rockin' at Rocky Sale.
6pm, 8th May Sites O92-O95. Stocklive Elite will be offering online bidding for those unable to attend. The catalogue will be available mid-April.
As always we will keep you updated through our monthly newsletter along with our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram.
We had a great response to our paddock bull sale and only have a couple still available. Check them out here or give Dale a call for more information.
Have a great month and please keep in touch especially if you have any questions, feedback or good news stories.
Cheers
Dale and Bin
